The owners were interested in a waterfront home but did not want to create a large structure that blocked views of the lake from above. The home was built into the natural slope of the site and covered with a planted green roof. From inside the home you have glass on two sides of the building providing views to the lake and courtyard. From above the green roof blends with the natural landscape of the site, the building is mostly hidden and does not detract from lake views. From above the project appears to be underground but inside the home is flooded with natural light and views. The east side of the home connects to an outdoor patio that becomes a second living space adjacent to the lake.
