Sanctum // House on the Hill

Designed around an entry courtyard and north facing garden, the design allows the internal spaces to be drenched with natural light and to be immersed in the tranquillity of the gardens. The solar orientation of the home welcomes the warm morning sunlight, with the eaves protecting the interiors from the harsh midday sun.

The house presents as two forms stacked and elongated volumes. The lower level being formed with hand made clay bricks from Denmark, the upper with pre-dried, pre-stained timber cladding to offer a low maintenance, durable, bespoke finish.

The materials outside are reflected inside the home, to form a consistent and simple material palette, which embraces the patterns, textures and imperfections of natural materials.
