This apartment in between Pigalle and Les Abbesses, in located in a very old building which received a lot of modifications over time. Its new owners wished to completely reimagine its distribution and its style, and adapt it to their way of living, by composing with the existing constraints: curved walls, ceilings and floors, structural wall partitions, plumbing and electrical systems...

We demolished everything we could be and that was not of interest, to freely rethink the distribution of spaces. The one half of the apartment with the largest and brightest room, keeps its original function of living space: opened kitchen on a living room with a dining area. On the other hand of the apartment, is a sleeping area with a dressing room and a bedroom in a row, separated by a custom made steel and glass partition. A large bathroom with a niche washbasin, a spacious shower, toilet and a hidden laundry, form the third area of the apartment. These three spaces are interconnected by a blue passage, lit by an existing skylight, and fulfilling different functions: entrance, hallway, shoe rack, technical closet. The idea was that each room had its own identity.

In the living room, the original hardwood floor was restored, as were the ceiling plaster moldings. A black white and gold kitchen, both discreet and unique, is installed on the back wall, framing the entrance area. The blue passage is implemented using the same paint on floors, walls, and ceiling, as well as on cupboards, doors and shelves. The ikea dressing cabinets are installed on an old oak floor recovered from another construction site and re installed here. In the bedroom, a red painted wall has the appearance of a headboard, incorporating a composition of hanged mirrors, recovered in flea market. The bathroom floor and niche are treated in light gray waxed concrete, while the shower wall is in khaki tinted concrete. A large piece of furniture in walnut finish incorporates cupboards under the toilet, and a space for the boiler and laundry. A folded volume, based on 10x10 black tiles, defines the large shower tray and the intimate space receiving the suspended toilet. A large glass wall maximizes the light output.
