Perfect Ski Getaway: Somrak Concept + Structure’s Crested Butte Home

When Somrak Concept + Structure was asked to build an ER doctor the perfect ski getaway, they knew its design inspiration, including the color scheme and materials, needed to come from the property’s natural surroundings in Crested Butte, Colorado. With a view of Mt. Crested Butte from anywhere in the living room, dining room, kitchen, and master bedroom, they decided to enhance the natural beauty surrounding their client with the use of organic, natural materials that subconsciously invoke a sense of calm.

The house was made to be an open and efficient concept. With space for guests to feel both separated and together, each bedroom has its own deck/patio exterior living space. The natural limestone fireplace in the living room (pictured above) makes a big statement as you walk into the home. Natural quartzite countertops and an earthy color palette complete the relaxed atmosphere.

The Somrak team partnered with SONNEMAN–A Way of Light to bring high-quality, multi-form lighting into the space. Following the design concept of “mountain modern,” they installed a Cantina LED Pendant six-light chandelier over the dining room table and two individual Cantina LED Pendant lights over the kitchen island.
