Brett Sugerman and Giselle Loor Sugerman of B+G Design, Inc., designed and delivered a client’s ultimate modern luxury residence in Coral Gables. The 2,400 sq. ft., three-bedroom apartment features spans of clearstory windows with city views, eleven-foot ceiling heights, and open plan.

“Transitioning from a single-family home with classically traditional interiors, our clients were looking for a modern, city sophisticated approach to their new home. Downsizing to a smaller footprint, Brett and I took into consideration the need for additional storage, maximizing their overall use of the gathering spaces and creating unique moments within the residence,” says Giselle.

Opting for a monochromatic color palette the interiors range from cool greys to black and cream tones. “Our client requested a seamless transition of the color palette throughout the residence from the moment you arrive in the foyer to the bedrooms. We achieved an understated elegance with visual impact through this timeless concept,” mentions Brett.

Upon entering the foyer, you are welcomed into the modern and streamlined design. Custom Oakwood black lacquer sliding doors with locking mechanism conceal the elevator while also providing the clients a sense of security and privacy. A custom area rug designed by B+G and Circa Lighting chandelier lead you into the heart of the residence where a B+G custom wood console in black is accented by the client's photography. Jazz aficionados, the black and white hues elegantly complement the client's collection. The touch of greenery along the wood panel accent wall adds a natural element. A jewel box, the powder room is highly detailed, creating a space that offers both function and beauty. Lee Broom pendant lights in matte black stand out against the Phillip Jeffries steel silver wall coverings. A grey glass sink, black matte Brizo fixtures, and Opustone granite transform this sultry powder room.

Designed for socializing, the living room is a sophisticated feel where clean lines and carbon grey color palette create a modernly elegant yet relaxing approach to gathering. A bespoke entertainment center in light grey satin lacquer with paneled sliding doors conceals the television while adding showcase areas for the client's collectibles. Within the media unit is a walk-up bar area and additional shelving along the top, which B+G added allowing for maximum use of the overall 22’ width. The media unit’s deeper ledge offers an opportunity for display or casual seating. A custom L-shaped sectional sofa in black and grey is complemented with Holly Hunt geometric patterned throw pillows. Upholstered in fabrics that allow for longevity of use, the sofa is family friendly. An architectural coffee table in carbon finish by Erinn V is complemented by two sinuous Hive freight grey lounge chairs with metallic detail. To delineate the living from the dining area, B+G designed a custom sofa back table and rug in cream with linear design. The team redesigned the ceilings adding Kreon recessed lighting casting a soft glow over the space.

The dining room feels almost private within the open plan. Textured grey Phillip Jeffries wall coverings in a concrete wash add depth and character. A painting provided by Axiom Fine art titled “Tempering Elements” brings in notes of yellow. A Bontempi Casa dining table in black matte finish seats eight in the refined space. Contemporary seating in grey leather with matte black legs are a bold statement in contrast to the softness of the sheer curtains. A black linear chandelier travels down the length of the table. B+G designed a custom buffet in two shades of grey satin lacquer adding storage and surface area for a tablescape. Presiding over the buffet is a cast iron Tom Dixon candelabra.

Boasting luxe cabinetry by Studio Snaidero Hollywood and high-end appliances by Ferguson the gourmet chef’s kitchen opens up to the main living areas. Leather upholstered bar chairs pull up to a generous island with Brizo fixtures from Designer’s Plumbing. 'The Opustone backsplash and concealed storage let you focus on the captivating space. B+G originally designed the layouts and finishes for the residences in collaboration with co-developers Heidi Eckes-Chantré and Christopher Brown, however we personalized the existing finishes for our client,” says Giselle. B+G reprogramed the layout to enhance the overall function adding an additional row of kitchen cabinets in black. Double ovens and fully equipped breakfast bar with sensory LED lighting are purposeful and aesthetically pleasing. Leading into the laundry room, the original door was replaced with a pocket door. Appliances were set back gaining room for custom cabinetry. The laundry room continues the kitchen’s sleek color story.

The main bedroom quietly exudes refinement in its tailored design. A custom king bed upholstered in ash color is set against custom millwork. Phillip Jeffries wall coverings accent the bedroom where Circa Lighting pendant lights hover over the matching bedside tables. At the foot of the bed rests a perfect two-seater bench. A petite lounge area with leather Knoll womb chair and ottoman with accompanying side table offers a moment for relaxation. The multifunctional floating vanity displays an Oakwood desk chair upholstered in a calming cream tone and black and white photograph by Rob Borel from Axiom Fine Art. The master bathroom was fully designed to evoke a luxurious experience with soaking tub and state of the art Kohler electronic shower features. B+G reconfigured the bathroom’s original layout removing a commode and adding a vanity with A. Rudin chair in an ocean foam color. “The master bath was designed for a couple by a couple. Abundant lighting, dual sinks and added storage were elements that were top priority,” says Brett. Creating a contemporary moment, the vestibule’s framed wall mirror resonates like art between the closet’s barn doors.
