Modern, cozy and elegant apartment with large windows

The initial goal of this project was transforming the daytime area of the house in an open concept including kitchen, living room, dining room and office; creating a play area and study for the two children on the second floor; and improving comfort and energy efficiency.

Starting from the dining room located at the back of the living room, at different heights and next to large windows, which have been completely renovated, you can enjoy magnificent views of Barcelona. From this point you can access a terrace with a chillout area. Also noteworthy is the ceiling lamp composed of four balls of opal glass and structure in black that presides over the dining table, filling and accentuating this atmosphere and the high ceiling.

Then we find the TV and relaxation area composed of a four-seater chaise-long sofa, a horizontal wall-to-wall cabinet that goes along up to the dining area; a melamine panel on the wall of the TV with a vertical garden on one side and a led strip at the top creating a very attractive effect. Next to the piece of furniture we find a fantastic gas fireplace, integrated in a plasterboard cladding, with white ceramic stones inside that contrast with the black of the structure.

In the central part, we find the hall (with two access doors) with a minimalist aesthetic that goes unnoticed thanks to the melamine cladding that covers the wall and the doors matching the laminate floor and making this space warmer and more welcoming. Opposite, there is a spiral stairway with glass steps (existing before the renovation), and a luxurious large pendant lamp with glass balls that visually fills the space within the double-height ceiling.

At the back there is an office area for the owners for working at home. Even there is enough space left which, if it is necessary, the sofa or office zones could be extended, creating an area for chairs, chill out, games, etc.

Undoubtedly, the kitchen is the 'star' space in the renovation. A convenient place has been created for cooking and eating comfortably, with extra storage space; and a perfect meeting point to spend special moments with family and friends. The central island houses the cooking area with a large working area and a space with stools. On both sides we find column wardrobes with built in appliances and two niches for the cleaning area and coffee machine. Aesthetically, we would like to outline the sober and smart combination of black and wood, and the mixture of different types of lighting that, not only allowes all activities to be carried out, but also have a great impact on the decoration.

On the upper floor a very versatile space has been created that is being used as a study and children’s leisure area at the moment, which is connected to the outdoor dining and barbecue area thanks to the triple-leaf aluminum enclosure.

Finally, to break the monotony of the combination of light shades with wood, black has been used in several elements: window profiles, lamps, fireplace and furniture.
