Traditionally, a bump out like this is used for a table, but we wanted to make a cosy sitting space where you can enjoy the view to the backyard and be just outside of the main living space. The ceiling is accented here in natural wood to draw interest and make the space warmer.

“The first floor has a separate home office were we flipped the exterior color palette by painting the walls black and the windows white,” says Hawthorn Builders.

The bar adjacent the dining space highlights some whimsy with this unique backsplash made from wood penny tiles stained in different colors to match the rest of the wood tones in the home.

Collaboration is key in this new construction home. Nestled in between two streets, this mid century farm house has wonderful urban views out the back and considerable natural light. The traditional gable front pronounces the front door and hides access to the mudroom door from the driveway. The first floor features an open concept dining, kitchen, and family room with a spacious mudroom and dedicated home office.

The home was constructed by Hawthorn Builders in a traditional wood frame building style, but incorporates all of the more modern conveniences. Energy rated windows, spray foam insulation, cement siding and a metal roof come together on the exterior shell. While natural materials like white oak, marble, and brick work cohesively on the interior.
