The best neighborhoods, whether you like the various styles or not, are architecturally diverse. It can be a dilemma for people with contemporary tastes looking to build or remodel within traditional neighborhoods. There is often an unspoken suggestion to keep the neighborhoods homogenous, which usually excludes contemporary design.

Punctuating a traditional neighborhood adds interest and encourages others to pursue a diversity in design that they might otherwise have thought was out of reach.

I completed the design of this private residence in 2019. It is located in Ferndale, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. It's the exclamation point at the end of a very traditional block of homes.
