Architecture coexists with the environment without imposing itself on it.

Each house has been placed at different heights to adapt to the slope of the hill, thus creating a beautiful rhythmic set of white volumes.

Environmental awareness is a basic requirement in today's architecture, so in L'Alzina we have used some elementary principles of sustainability and almost classic antiquity as cross ventilation, cabit wall, etc..

The use of white also has an explanation linked to sustainability. White is chosen not only because of its plastic characteristics but also because it is the color that best reflects radiation and minimizes overheating in summer.

The housing complex enhances the landscape, engages with the environment and excites those who live in it or visit it.

The landscape is one more element of L'Alzina: the pine trees, the green meadows, the pinaza meadows and the sky will be the real materials of this architecture. This architecture exists so that the landscape exists even more.

The materiality of the architecture is generated by light and shadow.

The inspiration for the complex is to be found in Mediterranean architecture and in the work of Portuguese architects Alvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura.

Each of the spaces in the single-family units exist to create an architecture that is human and full of sensations.

In the interior, transitional spaces have been avoided; the functional program is concatenated in a fluid way, the pieces of the program communicate in a direct way following Palladian principles but with a domestic scale.

The skylights, very present in the work of Jaime Prous, serve to introduce a piece of sky in the ceiling of the architecture.

This complex of 23 single-family homes emerges on a dense pine forest, which falls gently into a unique landscape full of meadows and lakes. The aim of the complex is to hide under the thick shade of the pines and create shelters that can go unnoticed through a slow, native and surprising architecture.

Each house is broken down into cubes of different proportions that sit at different heights following the natural terrain. The houses are grouped together to reduce the visual impact and share the views from the highest point of the hill.
