The task of economical use of resources, building materials, and, as a consequence, optimization of construction costs, is important for individual housing. Creation of individual housing objects with unified properties allows to repeatedly apply such projects, both in private construction and in the development of territories. The possibility of maximum industrialization of manufacturing of bearing and enclosing structures helps to reduce construction costs and reduce the terms of implementation of development projects. Serial projects of residential houses of multiple use have certain qualities that distinguish them from individual residential houses.
Firstly, it is the small area of such houses, ranging from 60 to 180 m2. This limitation is due to the need to adapt planning solutions for the individual user. According to our experience in the production of serial houses, projects of larger area (from 200 m2), unlike projects of smaller area, did not have multiple use. In the case of a larger area, adaptation to the need to create an individual project with a single application. Another distinctive feature of such houses, distinguishing them from individual projects, is the possibility of variable orientation on the plot, that is, the creation of a planning solution that would have the opportunity to apply such a house at different orientation on the sides of the world.

An example of such a project is the project of an individual dwelling house in the Barnhouse style. This house was designed for individual use, but due to the peculiarities of its location on the land plot and the wishes of the customer, this project can be attributed to this category. Laconic stylistics and planning solution, which partially interacts with the external environment, required a careful solution of the overall volume and plasticity of the building, as well as special attention to the choice of facade materials. The use of the metal click fold roof, which occupies a large part of the external surface of the house in combination with the wooden half-timbered facade structures, the airiness of the panoramic glazing, contrasted with the rhythmic monotony of the click fold, created the completeness of the object design without the use of additional decorative facade materials.

The principle of the technology, which utilizes the building envelope and load-bearing structures without subsequent finishing or additional finishing works, makes it possible to create houses and buildings that are economically efficient, applicable to both individual and commercial construction.

The quality of the solutions adopted defines such houses as utilitarian objects, house as an object, house as a thing.
