If there ever was an all-encompassing definition of a home in the mountains, it has to be this stunning Bleeker Street residence in Aspen’s West End designed by the designer duo Joe McGuire and Matthew Tenzin of Joe McGuire Designs. This home is a true testament to their studio’s philosophy of creating beautiful, inviting homes that are uniquely warm and comforting.
Local architect John Galambos creates a harmonious balance of contemporary lines and traditional elements, beautifully elevating every corner of this mountain home. The humble entryway has a mirror rack to hold hats, coats, and umbrellas and opens into a spacious living room with large windows offering soothing outdoor views. What makes the space unique is the double-height, oak-paneled ceilings which create a lofty, expansive feel. The entire room looks bright, airy, and inviting due to Joe and Matthew’s design interventions of using Moroccan rugs, cozy textures of alpaca, mohair, and shearling, and furnishings by exceptional makers from around the U.S.
The designers chose the classic black and white combo in the kitchen and bar area to add a sophisticated touch. The beautiful marble countertops nicely complement the darker cabinets, and the white subway tile backsplash creates a classic feel. In the dining room, the large 8-seater dining table makes a statement with blue upholstered chairs and a dark-finish tabletop. The stunning artworks on the walls make for interesting conversation-starters while entertaining family and friends.
In the bedrooms upstairs, the designers make for maximum use of the beautiful natural light with the effective placement of the bed and chairs. Each of the four bedrooms is a haven of relaxation with cozy furnishings, soft pillows, and elegant decor. It would be natural to feel instantly calm entering one of these beautiful bedrooms. A large four-person bunk bed set up in one of the bedrooms ensures plenty of space for large family get-togethers. The master bath is uber-luxurious and has a spa-like feel. With a stunning freestanding tub, vanity, and a lounge seat to relax in, this crisp white bathroom feels like a dream.
