Hill House

The east entry facade minimizes glazing and views in, but as the visitor moves into the house around the opaque walls, the house slowly opens to panoramic views of the valley to the north

A 6 foot wall creates private spaces off the south side of the house adjoining the kitchen.

The entry creates a brief moment of pause before moving into the main circulation hall.

Clerestory windows light the main hall, which organizes the house: private / sleeping to one side, public / living spaces to the other.

The kitchen, dining, and living spaces open to take in the panoramic views to the north and east.

The office / library offers views to the north and ample natural light.

Salvaged brick for the original house was re-purposed in the eating and entry areas to add both texture and an additional element of time to the house.

Locally sourced timber and the regular structure of post-and-beam organize the house throughout. Exposed rafters and natural larch ceilings add warmth.
