From Model Remodel

Smitten with their neighborhood and Craftsman home, this family knew a few updates would go a long way toward loving their home long-term. To better suit their needs, they enlisted Model Remodel to give their basement a complete overhaul, and create a revitalized open-concept kitchen and dining space. All the updates focused on modernizing the home while integrating the traditional Craftsman style.

A refresh of the kitchen included surface updates throughout (countertops, tile, backsplash, kitchen sink, and faucet) as well as the addition of a kitchen island. Removing a built-in and some posts made way for a large island that could serve as a functional transition between the kitchen and dining room. The island features a marble waterfall counter, beverage refrigerator, seating for three, and integrated outlets. The neighboring dining room was was adorned with wainscoting and a picture ledge.

In the basement, structural upgrades allowed us to remove the support posts that were dividing the space. This created a large living space with an adjacent play area. We also reconfigured the basement to create a guest suite in place of a powder room. An egress window brought the basement bedroom up to code. With a full bedroom and luxurious bathroom in the basement, guests are sure to have a great stay.

The basement laundry room was also remodeled to include a dog wash station for the family pet. The previous cabinets were able to be reused in this space. Beautiful concrete tile adds pattern and modernity, while the bathroom selections incorporated more traditional marble.

The new spaces in this Craftsman remodel blend into the home so seamlessly it’s hard to remember the original layout.
