Can Albert is a refurbishment project of an apartment located in the Sants neighborhood of Barcelona. Albert, who is a talented director of photography, wanted a special, unique home that reflected his way of living and understanding the "home". The result is an open and sophisticated loft that Albert has filled with life, permeating it with his great taste for art and design.
When we started the project we found an apartment that had been thru a series of low quality renovations that had completely hidden it's beauty and it. Our first instinct was to empty it and strip it bare, revealing the textures of the brick, the masonry and the framework of wooden beams, with the beautiful surprise of a gorgeous gabled roof with lots of personality. Quite a rare feature in the center of Barcelona. Inside this beautiful and sincere space, we designed two key elements capable of responding to the entire program: a central box that contains bathroom and storage; and a continuous carpentry element that serves the different needs of the home: storage at the entrance, desk, TV cabinet, laundry room and, finally, kitchen.
Albert has left us a lot of creative freedom and we have responded with daring solutions and a sophisticated and elegant palette. The kitchen is a volume made of Italian walnut wood and white Macael marble that "floats" on a metal pillar; all the carpentry elements play with white and dark blue lacquers and walnut. The bathroom is wrapped in microcement with walnut details, a large custom-made walnut marble sink and taps by Neve Rubinetterie.
