When designing for our son's room, we wanted something that would appeal to both him as a child, and us, as adults who would be spending so much time in the space. We landed on a subtle beach theme with a classic-cottage twist. A tight color pallet allowed us to mix and match a variety of playful patterns and textures and was the perfect canvas for the many beloved vintage pieces we had saved from our childhood, such as a vintage Steiff teddy bear, sea shells my father collected from his ocean dives, and my husband's Gund bear collection. As a surprised to us all, Marty arrived a whole month early at 36 weeks, well before we had completed his room. When we finally emerged from the newborn fog, we realized it was a blessing in disguise as we were able to finalize the details of his room actually knowing a bit of his personality (sweet, silly, constantly curious) and infuse that into the details of his space as well.
