From Chele Mckee Design

Homeowner Chele Mckee, a Global Brand Experience leader known for revitalizing legacy brands, puts her fresh spin on a piece of history by the bay — a one-0f-a-kind house built in 1977 by Cal Poly architecture student Michael Underwood as his senior project.

This "tree house" inspired beach house remodel features a unique mix of organic materials. Some are original to the build such as the redwood used on walls and ceilings, and the terracotta tile and red brick flooring in the entry. To complement those and as a unifying element, Chele used new cork flooring throughout the home.

The house's airy 24’ high ceiling emphasizes the open floor plan that is cleverly spread across 5 levels. And each level features custom built-ins to optimize space and maximize the stunning views from every window.

The décor is thoughtfully curated with Chele’s personal favorites in art, furniture, and eclectic finds inspired by memorable times or collected during travels to India , South America and Scandinavia. Her mindful mix of color and natural elements bring the ocean and outdoors in to set the tone for a relaxing, retreat-like space.

Outdoor spaces restored and up cycled during Covid , Created front courtyard by recycling a former view blocking fence to create a small deck that's perfect for yoga and sunset parties , all areas carefully considered and maximized for bay views, cost gatherings and drought conditions.
